The Audiovisual (AV) Collection contains a variety of materials in many formats, which cover a wide range of subjects to meet the curriculum and enrichment needs of teachers and students. The format includes DVDs, VHS tapes and audio CDs.

Who oversees the AV Collection?

  • The AV Librarian, Mr. Farhad Moshiri, is available from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.  He can assist with selection and check out.

What are the hours of operation?

  • Fall Operating Hours
    • Monday - Thursday: 8:00am – 7:00pm
    • Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm
    • Saturday - Sunday: Closed
  • After hours, the Reference Librarian on duty can assist you.  If no reference librarian is on duty, the evening supervisor can assist you. 

Can the online catalog be used to find AV materials?

  • All AV materials are cataloged in the Library’s online catalog.

How can I find out what new materials have arrived?

Who can check out AV materials?

Users with a valid UIW ID Card, who are free of library fines or charges, can check out items.

  • UIW, St. Anthony, IWHS, ELS Faculty
  • UIW, St. Anthony, IWHS staff
  • UIW, St. Anthony, IWHS Students
  • ELS Students
  • Retirement Community Members

Alumni, TexShare members, and CORAL members cannot check out AV materials.

How long can the material be checked out and how many items at a time?

  • 7 days, 3 items at a time (multi-part titles are counted separately).
  • There is no limit on the number of items UIW faculty may check out.

Can items be renewed?

  • Users must come to the library with item to renew.
  • Online, telephone or e-mail renewals are not allowed.

What if items are returned late, or damaged or lost?

  • Fines are $1 per day, per item up to 20 days.
  • After 20 days, the item is declared lost.
    • Each lost item accrues two charges: the item’s replacement cost and a maximum overdue fine of $20.
    • If an item is returned and the Library has not replaced it, the replacement cost will be refunded. The patron will pay the maximum overdue fine of $20.

What about AV materials placed on Reserve?

  • Reserves are checked out at Circulation Desk
  • The loan period varies based on faculty’s decision (2-hours or 2-days).
  • 2-hour reserve items can be used in our listening and viewing room LIB 105.
    • Check out door key and electricity activation key for LIB 105 at the Circulation Desk.
    • Fines: $1 per hour overdue.

    How can I request an addition to the AV Collection?
